China Doll
2. Down
3. Superhero
4. Blinking Watch
5. Caffeine
6. Magic
7. Thief
8. Girl in The Cashmere Dress
9. Southern States
10. Backyard Waltz

Favorite Lines: "The actor upstairs memorizes his scene, cut out his heart just to trade it for a dream." ~ China Doll
"In the city tonight I can't sleep, cause your face is some strong caffeine" ~ Caffeine
"Now my tongue is trapped and my eyes they scream" ~ Blinking Watch

My Thoughts: Jim Hanft is an amazing songwriter. His ability to string together words and thoughts is like poetry on ice. He is very talented and very funny, but this album doesn't show how funny he is. For that you would need to go to a live show. This is an amazing debut by a promising talent and it is not to be missed. Kids - by the time you are reading this, Jim will already be a huge star and you can say my mom knew him when....

Reminds me of: backyard waltzing. sitting around for a late night concert with close friends, listening to jim and drinking beers.

Random Fact: Alot of Jim's songs are very personnel and touch on subjects of life in LA, meeting homeless people, love, bitchy sisters and the death of his father. ~ me
"Laughter and pain are two very similar emotions" says Jim, "when you combine the two you make people completely vulnerable yet completely comfortable at the same time." Jim quote from www.jimhanft.com

Caffeine - Love this video.

Down

The Violent Femmes - The Violent Femmes

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/Sf0St0hy_cI/AAAAAAAAAaA/3On82FHI_z4/s400/200px-Violent_Femmes.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5331438112280346050" />

Album: Violent Femmes
Artist: Violent Femmes
Release Year: 1982
Hails From: Milwaukee

Tracks:
1. Blister in the Sun
2. Kiss Off
3. Please Do Not Go
4. Add It Up
5. Confessions
6. Prove My Love
7. Promise
8. To The Kill
9. Gone Daddy Gone
10. Good Feeling
11. Ugly
12. Gimme the Car

My Thoughts: The Violent Femmes are funny to me because they are so popular with alternative, hipster kids; yet the singer whine sings and alot of the songs are very dark. Which is probably why the alternative hipster kids love it. This album is such an influence on so many alternative rock groups through out the 80's & 90's. This album is the soundtrack to teenage angst. The lead singer Gordan Gano wrote most of the songs all in highschool, so that also makes sense.

Reminds me of: dancing your pants off. or wrecking cars and burning something down. or cutting myself. whatever comes first.

Random Fact:
They were discovered by The Pretenders when they found them busking outside of a theatre in Milwaukee and Chrissie Hynde invited them to do an acoustic set after their opening act. Femme at the time was slang for Wimp in Milwaukee. ~ (Wikipedia)

Add It Up - The Violent Femmes

Kiss Off Live

Michael Giacchino - LOST

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 248px; height: 248px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/Sfq1PRcYW8I/AAAAAAAAAZ4/rwlirhUTVQ8/s400/248px-Soundtrack.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330772382931508162" />

Album: LOST Soundtrack Season 1
Artist: Michael Giacchino
Release Year: 2006
Hails From: New Jersey

Tracks:
1. Main Title
2. The Eyeland
3. World's Worst Beach Party
4. Credit Where Credit Is Due
5. Run Like, Um... Hell?
6. Hollywood and Vines
7. Just Die Already
8. Me and My Big Mouth
9. Crocodile Locke
10. Win One For the Reaper
11. Departing Sun
12. Charlie Hangs Around
13. Navel Gazing
14. Proper Motivation
15. Run Away! Run Away!
16. We're Friends
17. Getting Ethan
18. Thinking Clairely
19. Locke'd Out Again
20. Life and Death
21. Booneral
22. Shannonigans
23. Kate's Motel
24. I've Got a Plane to Catch
25. Monsters Are Such Innnteresting People
26. Parting Words
27. Oceanic 815

My Thoughts: Yes kids, this is kind of like classical music, but that doesn't mean it sucks. Michael Giacchino has made the soundtrack to so many video games, TV shows and movies and LOST is just one of the many. He followed JJ Abrams from Alias and in LOST's pilot episode he collected actual plane wreckage and made it in to percussion instruments. So alot of the sounds you hear is actual metal from the plane they used in the pilot episode. I have watched parts of the show where they showed it without the music, and I love the show and the actors, but it truly is not the same without the music. The scenes do not hit you the same way. Sometimes it scares the heck out of you, other times it gives you chills, other times it makes you cry. Michael Giacchino is an exemplary example of the power of music. The music is like another character in LOST.
Also - there is a soundtrack for every season, this is only an example of one.

Reminds me of: obviously the show, but I get chills every time I listen to certain songs. It is so beautiful and makes you feel in a way that only classical instrumental music can.

Random Fact:
The music of Lost is so popular that they held a special concert featuring the music from the show. Terry O'Quinn (John Locke) came to narrate the performance. It completely sold out the Hollywood Bowl which is a huge venue in LA. Giacchino won an emmy for his LOST score. ~ (Lost DVD's)

Characters & their theme:

This is played every time someone is born or dies:
Black Dog
2. Rock & Roll
3. Battle of Evermore
4. Stairway to Heaven
5. Misty Mountain Hop
6. Four Sticks
7. Going to California
8. When the Levee Breaks

My Thoughts: Best. Rock. Band. Ever.
Though Led Zeppelin is often referred to as a heavy metal band, I have to disagree. Though they have many loud guitar driven songs and portions of songs, they are just as often very soft and acoustic. Their songs range from sounding country to folk to funk and more. They are pure genius. I will agree that they laid the groundwork for the future of heavy metal, but really, what rock genre did they NOT influence?
I will probably end up putting all but two of their albums on this list, I chose this one first for a few reasons. It shows their awesome diversity. It has a cool back story. It also includes arguably one of the best classic rock songs and guitar solos ever.

Reminds me of: Listening to rock angels sing. Perfection.

Random Fact: Led Zeppelin III was critically panned for departing from their harder sound in the first two albums and they were often criticized by the press for being over-hyped. So they released IV without a title and without a name. It was represented by 4 symbols that they each picked to represent themselves. They did this to prove that they didn't need their name to sell music. They wanted the music to speak for itself. It is the 3rd best selling album ever in the US.

The symbols, in order, represents - Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, Robert Plant. Because it kind of looks like letters the album is often called ZOSO

<img style="float:left; Sara
Release Year: 2004
Hails From: Alberta, Canada

Tracks:
1. You Wouldn't Like Me
2. Take Me Anywhere
3. I Bet It Stung
4. I Know I Know I Know
5. Where Does The Good Go
6. Downtown
7. I Won't Be Left
8. Walking With A Ghost
9. So Jealous
10. Speak Slow
11. Wake Up Exhausted
12. We Didn't Do It
13. Fix You Up
14. I Can't Take It

My Thoughts: One of my favorite bands. They are super talented and smart twin sisters that formed their band when they were 13. This is their third album and their best up to this point. This album gets a little lighter and poppier than their previous albums, which does well for them. The songs are short, fun and all a little different from one another. Most songs are acoustic and electric guitar driven with some keyboards added in to give some songs an electro feel. Walking With a Ghost is their most popular song from this album and it helped that The White Stripes covered it and gave it more attention. Some others I love are You Wouldn't Like Me, Speak Slow, So Jealous, Fix You Up.

Reminds me of: T&S music always cheers me up when down :) Also it always reiterates my want of learning the guitar.

Random Fact: The girls are famous for their banter and diatribes that they go on during performances. They are very funny. The band originally was Sara & Tegan because their mom messed up when she signed them up for a war of the bands event. Which they won. They later changed it to Tegan & Sara, because she is older and they though it sounded better.

Walking With A Ghost

Speak Slow

Cypress Hill - Cypress Hill

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 198px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/SfFcRIV_a0I/AAAAAAAAAYg/SZNS5lxqLHM/s400/Cypress_Hill_Self-Titled.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328141283523259202" />

Album: Cypress Hill
Artist: Cypress Hill
Release Year: 1991
Hails From: South Central LA

Tracks:
1. However this some good mo fo shiz. It uses heavy sampling from jazz greats, to soul, to funk, to Jimi Hendrix. It is one of the best hip hop albums, from when hip hop was still good (unlike today). I listened to this "tape" through out all of grade school. Since Cypress Hill is sooo pro mary jane they made their songs to sound like you are stoned, if you aren't already. Even though they are rapping about violence and drugs, their delivery makes it sound almost humorous.

Reminds me of: sitting on the bus going to school. being out in the yard during lunch. gang banging with my homies in south central LA.

Random Fact:
Banned from SNL for smoking weed on stage during their show and for smashing their instruments after their performance. This album is one of "1001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die". Also I found it interesting that Rolling Stone only gave this album only 3 stars when it came out, but then named it "Essential Recordings of the 90's". I guess they had a change of heart. First latino group to have a multi-platinum album. ~ wikipedia

Hand on the Pump

Latin Lingo (combines both english and spanish with an ill beat)

Dave Matthews Band - Crash

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/SeLh0klXb_I/AAAAAAAAAVk/6XAAOiXE6cQ/s400/200px-DMB_Crash.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324066002795196402" />

Album: Crash
Artist: Dave Matthews Band
Release Year: 1996
Hails From: Virginia

Tracks:
1. So Much To Say
2. Two Step
3. Crash
4. Too Much
5. #41
6. Say Goodbye
7. Drive In Drive Out
8. Let You Down
9. Lie In Our Graves
10. Cry Freedom
11. Tripping Billies
12. Proudest Monkey

My Thoughts: I love Dave. He is and always will be one of my favorite artists and this album transports me to another time. Every single song is great. Well almost, sometimes I can't stand Cry Freedom. But other than that - half the songs are some of my favorites ever. Now children, a lot of people may tell you not to like Dave and that he sucks - Don't listen to them. One of the greatest bands ever. In fact before this album, I HATED Dave Matthews and made fun of my friends who liked him. I ate my words and now am one of the only people I know (only?) who still buys every Dave album.

Reminds me of: what doesn't this remind me of. Mostly of the the shore, the summer of 97 and early college.

Random Fact:
While researching this, I found that though the most popular, Crash is the most criticized, citing no strong melodies or hooks. Not really a fact - sorry that's all I got.

Say Goodbye Live

Lie In Our Graves - Dave Matth...

Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/SdW5EI4eyQI/AAAAAAAAAUE/QA09-6EnwXg/s400/200px-VampireWeekendCD2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320362015563106562" />

Album: Vampire Weekend (self produced original version)
Artist: Vampire Weekend
Release Year: 2007
Hails From: New York City

Tracks:
1. Mansford Roof
2. Oxford Comma
3. A-Punk
4. Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa
5. Boston
6. Campus
7. One
8. Bryn
9. Walcott
10. The Kids Don't Stand A Chance

My Thoughts: Kids - I am presenting the boot leg version of this album rather than the 2008 official album because that is what I heard first and grew to love. The "official" release adds two songs - M79 & "I Stand Corrected" and removed Boston now known as "Ladies from Cambridge". It is definitely less produced, but I almost think that makes it better - it is them in their rawest form without all the added bells and whistles. You can only get the new version now - but they are great - so it doesn't really matter. This album is so different sounding. They pull from African music and they were definitely influenced by Paul Simon's Graceland. Their live show is amazing. And girls, when your old enough, check out the drummer - he is super cute.

Reminds me of: sitting in a park on a sunny day. driving to allentown.

Random Fact:
Ezra Koennig (lead singer) made a movie during college, the album started out as a soundtrack for that movie. They eventually took the movie's name for their band name. Ezra also had formed a rap group as a serious joke, which didn't work out. He then formed Vampire Weekend with his friends from college at Columbia.
~ (i just knew alright)

Love this song.

The Kids Don’t Stand A Chance ...

Love this song and this video. Soolaimon/Brother Love's Traveler's Show

My Thoughts: When I was younger my dad played Neil Diamond, Mozart, and Elvis on repeat. During my summers growing up that was basically the soundtrack of my youth. At the time I hated it. Now, though I acknowledge the obsessiveness was crazy and I can blame that trait I picked up on my dad, I am also very thankful for such an amazing introduction to music. One of those guys created rock and roll, another is Mozart (do I really need to say more?) and the other is one of the greatest singer songwriters of the past 50 years. And he is still going. Hot August Nights was a mainstay of my dad's complete Neil Diamond collection. It is a live double album and when looking at it I thought I didn't know some of the songs - but upon listening I know every single one and all of the words to a lot of them. It is amazing what brain washing will do to you! Basically I was brainwashed when I was 8 into writing this blog post 21 years later. Weird.

Reminds me of: My dad. summers on Aubrey Ave.

Random Fact:
It is a double album recorded at a concert on Thursday August 24, 1972, one of ten sold out concerts that he performed that month at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
Red Intro
2. How Many Mics
3. Ready or Nor
4. Zealots
5. The Beast
6. Fu-Gee-La
7. Family Business
8. Manifest/Outro

My Thoughts: This is one of my favorite hip hop albums. The Fugees basically only have 2 albums, this is their second one and after it they all went in different directions, Lauren Hill's direction being -> making one of the other greatest hip hop & R&B albums ever then followed by a quick stop in crazy town, which is the rumor for why the Fugees haven't really reunited although there have been many an attempt. But this album is just amazing tour de force of three incredible lyricists and rappers.

Reminds me of: driving around in the K Car & the Bonneville.

Random Fact:
The track "Ready or Not" samples Enya's "Boadicea". Initially this sample was uncredited, and Enya was prepared to sue for copyright infringement, however decided not to when she discovered that the Fugees were not gangsta rappers. ~ (wikipedia)

Ready or Not

Fu-Gee-La

The Shins - Oh Inverted World

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 199px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/ScwL8GfmC5I/AAAAAAAAASE/p-hSzz5FrS8/s400/200px-Theshinsohinvertedworld.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5317638387180899218" />

Album: Oh, Inverted World
Artist: The Shins
Release Year: 2001
Hails From: New Mexico

Tracks:
1. Caring is Creepy
2. One By One All Day
3. Weird Divide
4. Know Your Onion
5. Girl Inform Me
6. New Slang
7. The Past and Pending

My Thoughts:
I think if the Beach Boys or early Beatles were to have first come out in 2001, this is what they would have sounded like. This album has always been popular with college kids but after Natalie Portman told Zach Braff that "the Shins will change your life", in Garden State they exploded on the college scene. I really like The Shins, but I feel like the quality of their albums have gone down with each one, at least in my opinion. But this album is excellent and just transports me to another time.

Reminds me of: i love making mix cds and Girl Inform Me and New Slang were on my first cds that i ever made. these songs always remind me of sitting in my basement at 2 AM on a work night feverishly searching for cool music and stumbling upon this little ditty of an album.

Random Fact:
The Past & Pending was played at Heath Ledger's funeral.
~ (wikipedia)

New Slang

<a href="http://www.lala.com/song/360569462351074690" title="Know Your Onion! Meet Me By The Water
9. Even So
10. I Want You
11. Reason Why
12. Moments With Oliver
13. Quiet
14. Untitled

My Thoughts:
It was only a matter of time. There are certain moments in my musical life that I hold as defining moments, which pretty much shaped my musical tastes going forward, the first time I heard a Rachael Yamagata song is one of them. It was at Tower Records at a XPN listening booth and it actual wasn't this CD - it was the EP and the song, Collide, isn't even on this CD, but when I heard it I felt like a had found a missing piece of myself. Most of the songs from that EP are on this CD are on here and every song is great. I have spent years analyzing these songs and applying them to my own life. Rachael is such an amazing talent and I hope she has years and years of success in front her.

Reminds me of: how excited I get when I introduce Rachael music to other people for the first time. whole new worlds.

Random Fact:
Because Rachael is super fun and super random, Survivor asked her to be on the show, she declined. Rachael was originally in a funk bank called Bumpus, where she dated one of the band members. Their breakup is what inspired the song "Reason Why"
~ (my mind)

Worn Me Down:

Reason Why:

Not on the album, but you just have to hear this.
<div style="font-size: 9px; Get It While You Can

My Thoughts:
This is our first example of why you should never do drugs, kids. This album includes half the songs that are on Janis' greatest hits albums. She never saw the success of it because she died of a heroin overdose before it was released. She was only 27. I love Janis and this album because she is a hard core rock chick in a world that was completely dominated by men. And she was awesome at it, despite the odds against her.

Reminds me of: Lost potential. Junior year of high school.

Random Fact:
"Mercedes Benz" was recorded once and not considered complete and there are no vocals on "Buried Alive in the Blues" because they were going to be recorded on the day after she died. Her other last recording was a birthday wish to John Lennon.
~ (wikipedia)

Me And Bobby McGee - John Cook...

Damien Rice - 9

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 195px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/Sb_-9nnuxaI/AAAAAAAAAQE/dQ4LM1Azii8/s400/200px-Ninealbumcover.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314246419881575842" />

Album: 9
Artist: Damien Rice
Release Year: 2006
Hails From: Dublin, Ireland

Tracks:
1. 9 Crimes
2. Accidental Babies
10. Sleep Don't Weep

My Thoughts:
Top O the Morning to ya Kids! Today is Damien Rice because he's Irish and we haven't had any songs from my favorite genre. Singer/Songwriter. O will probably be on here at a later point just because I love Blower's Daughter and Cannonball that much - but 9 is my favorite Damien Rice. And its not because it's named after my favorite number. I love it because you can feel the emotion and passion in his voice in every single song. Especially in Elephants where I feel like I can almost feel what he is feeling. It gives me chills every time. He goes from barely singing in pain and jealousy in Accidental Babies to all out screaming in anger on Rootless Tree. It received very mixed reviews, and O is definitely more critically acclaimed, but I love it.

Reminds me of:Rainy cold weather. Standing 10 feet away from Damien at the World Cafe with Griffy.

Random Fact:
Elephants was originally going to be called "Blower's Daughter Part 2" Damien Rice was originally a part of Jupiter which later became BellX1 - which is a big indie rock Irish band right now.

Elephant:

Coconut Skins:

TLC - Ooooooohhh... On The TLC Tip
Artist: TLC
Release Year: 1992
Hails From: Atlanta

Tracks:
1. Intro
2. Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg
3. Shock Dat Monkey
4. Intermission I
5. Hat 2 Da Back
6. Das Da Way We Like 'Em
7. What About Your Friends
8. His Story
9. Intermission II
10. Bad By Myself
11. Something You Wanna Know
12. Baby-Baby-Baby
13. This Is How It Should Be Done
14. Depend On Myself
15. Conclusion

My Thoughts:
In all honesty, some of the songs on this aren't that great, but the ones that are great are really fun and great. Also good or bad song - I know every word to every song by heart. This started my obsession with this group that lasts till today, so much so that I am watching Celebrity Apprentice, just for T-Boz.

Reminds me of: Listening to this tape in my walkman every day on the bus in 7th grade. Standing in front of my TV performing Hat 2 Da Back with TLC while my mom was outside shoveling snow. Dressing like Left Eye with Kim & Jenn for Halloween (trend?). Making socks with our names on them with Lizzy that were like the socks TLC had.

Random Fact:
Crystal Jones put out an ad to start a group called 2nd Nature with her in it. They found Tionne Watkins - T-Boz & Lisa Lopes - Left Eye and changed it to TLC. Producers later felt that Crystal Jones needed to be replaced, so they brought in Rozonda Thomas - Chili. Thanks for that idea Crystal Jones, see ya later.
To this day TLC is the 3rd most sellinginst girl group, surpassed by Spice Girls & Destiny's Child. ~ (my mind)

Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg

Hat 2 Da Back (Featuring Kriss Kross!!!!!!)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://albumsformyunbornkid.blogspot.com/2009/03/tlc-ooooooohhh-on-tlc-tip.html' title='TLC - Ooooooohhh... Gone

My Thoughts:
Unborns, Since my obsession with Madonna didn't really start until later in life during college, this is probably my favorite Madonna album. It also has my third and fourth favorite Madonna songs on it - What It Feels Like For A Girl and Don't Tell Me. It is just so fun and the best getting ready to go out CD. It was also really important for her, because this and Ray of Light (1998) came out during a time when people were starting to discount her and say that she'll never have another hit record, these albums came out and the still reigning Queen of Pop proved them wrong. Suckas.

Reminds me of: When me and my roommates dressed up as different era Madonnas and tried to learn the dance to Don't Tell Me. I was Music Madonna.

Random Facts:
Music hit #1 in 15 countries. The opening line of the song Music ("Hey Mr. DJ, put a record on, I want to dance with my baby") features a male-sounding voice. The voice is actually Madonna's voice, heavily transformed. ~(Wikipedia)

What It Feels Like For A Girl ...

If this doesn't make you want to go to a Madonna concert I don't know what will.

Arcade Fire - Funeral

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 181px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/Sb3_gaWVdWI/AAAAAAAAAPo/jt2bg-UC2l8/s400/200px-ArcadeFireFuneralCover.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313684067660952930" />

Album: Funeral
Artist: Arcade Fire
Release Year: 2004
Hails From: Quebec, Montreal - Canada

Tracks
1. In The Backseat

My Thoughts:
Kids, This album is a musical masterpiece. It is very inventive and different from anything else. The way it is put together is more like an amazing musical, rather then an album. It's just beautiful. In the song "Wake Up" they use 15 different instruments. Sometimes I don't even know what the guy is saying, but it could be satanic chanting and it would still be awesome.

Reminds me of: Working in Voorhees, NJ and rainy days.

Random Facts:
It was given its title because several band members had recently lost members of their families: Régine Chassagne's grandmother died in June 2003, Win and William Butler's grandfather (swing musician Alvino Rey) in March 2004, and Richard Reed Parry's aunt in April 2004. ~(wikipedia)

Wake Up - Arcade Fire

Dave Brubeck - Time Out

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 199px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lGiFMRHDLFo/Sbru-Bh-yyI/AAAAAAAAAPg/cKm8RFe36ew/s400/200px-Time_out_album_cover.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312821459767184162" />

Album: Time Out
Artist: Dave Brubeck
Release Year: 1959
Hails From: Just outside San Francisco

Tracks:
1. Blue Rondo a la Turk
2. Strange Meadow Lark
3. Take Five
4. Three to Get Ready
5. Kathy's Waltz
6. Everybody's Jumping
7. Pick Up Sticks

My Thoughts:
Listen up kids, I love this album, it is fun to listen to when cleaning on a Sunday afternoon. I love this so much that Blue Rondo a la Turk is my cell phone ringer when its not on vibrate. Take Five is a great song and if you've spent any time in a Starbucks, you've heard it. Also the artwork on the cover of the album is pretty cool. Dave Brubeck is 88 years old and he is still performing to sold out crowds. He is the man.

Reminds me of: Driving to work at Starbucks at 3:30 in the morning and then going on a mad search to find out who the artist was.

Random Facts:
Although the album was intended as an experiment (Columbia president Goddard Lieberson was willing to chance releasing it) and received negative reviews by critics upon its release, it became one of the best-known and biggest-selling jazz albums, reaching number two in the U.S. Billboard "Pop Albums" chart, and produced one single — Paul Desmond's "Take Five" — that reached number five in the Billboard "Adult Contemporary" chart.
In 2005 it was one of 50 recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry. ~ (wikipedia)

Take Five - Dave Brubeck

In The Beginning

Hi Kids -
I posted a link on my other blog, Rules For My Unknown Son. I thought it was such a cute idea and my friend Kim told me I should make one with albums. I thought it was a fun idea and here we are. I am excited because it gives so much freedom to explore all of the albums that I want my non existent kid to know. I don't know if I will ever have kids - so you can share them with your unborn kids.
I am not claiming any musical expertise, I just like music a lot, and plus my kids have to listen to whatever I say anyway. Most likely each album touched my life in some way, or reminds me of some period or happening in my life, which I may or may not explain. I am not placing any genre restrictions, going up to any particular number and I HOPE to put one up every day. Oh, and be warned, it will be random.
Enjoy!
